In this 3 hour workshop participants will learn a systematic step-by-step underglaze application on clay. Participants will learn about underglaze, colours and application of underglazes to clay work. Student will first learn how to merge two colours with a brushing blending technique. Upon having applied multi-colours of underglaze to a slab, they will acquire a basic painting technique with the use of the underglaze. Participants will learn how to trim and cut out the artwork. All materials included. Open to beginners. Ages 16 years - adult. Instructor is bilingual.

2 day hands-on workshop facilitated by Toronto area ceramic artist, Heather Dynes Smit. Heather is recognized for her delicately constructed soft-slab, hand-built forms that are both sculptural and functional in design. Heather�s workshop and construction techniques will encourage ceramic artists to explore how sculptural form, function and simplicity can exist in contemporary, everyday utilitarian objects.
Heather will guide workshop participants through her soft-slab, hand-building methods in the creation of a tea pot. Open discussion during the workshop will focus on form and function, safe/healthy studio practice, and template making. Skills learned in this 2 day hands-on workshop are easily translated to participants own projects and ideas.
